The city of Hannover has a population of more than 500,000 residents. Over one million people reside in the Hannover region. The city is also an international meeting place where numerous global companies have their headquarters and international fairs and exhibitions take place every year, such as the CeBIT and the Industry Fair. Hannover lies in between the North German Plains and the rolling hills and mountains in the central part of Germany. The more than 750 year old city is the capital city of Lower-Saxony as well as its political, economic, and cultural center. Hannover is known as the “Green City”, with large parks, forests and garden areas. In the summer, the famous baroque Herrenhausen Garden is a location for various festivals. A flourishing cultural life goes on throughout the year, with musical and theatre performances, concert halls, museums, and galleries.
