Kansai Gaidai University, through its extensive international network with 54 countries and regions and its unique educational programs, offers a style of learning which ushers in a new era of studying in a foreign language. Location

Gaidai's two campuses (Nakamiya and Gakkentoshi) are located in Hirakata city (pop.: 405,000) near Osaka city, the second largest business metropolis next to Tokyo. Hirakata is also close to Kyoto and Nara, both of which are synonymous with "Japan's rich tradition." This Geographic advantage provides students with easy access to the centers of Osaka and Kyoto in little over half an hour by train.

Language Requirements

  • Japanese language courses range from the introductory through the advanced levels. Previous Japanese language training is not required.
    • Efficient language training with the latest innovations in linguistic instruction, fully equipped language laboratories, friendship programs with Japanese students, as well as the heart-warming home stay program, will all contribute to the rapid development of participants’ language proficiency and pragmatic understanding of the Japanese culture.
  • There is a mandatory Japanese language course that consists of three 90-minute periods each week, supplemented by laboratory and homework assignments. Japanese Kanji and Readings courses meet two times each week, 90-minute per session. All other courses are conducted in two 90-minute per week, supplemented by extra contact hours in the form of field trips, research assignments, etc.

Costs

According to the agreement signed by Texas State University and Kansai Gaidai University, exchange students must pay tuition, room and board to their home institutions. Please find estimated costs for fall semester below:

Tuition: (15 credits)- $5,310.80
Housing: $3,838
Meals: $1,397 (meal plan- 250, plus $75)
